Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Review

Rodney Strong Cabernet SauvignonIn appearance, the wine was dark plum to purple in color.  One person likened it to burgundy in color and noticed a light ring around the edge of the wine in the glass.  Legs were fast, thick and evenly spaced.

On the nose, our tasters had a few different opinions about the aroma.  One person noted oak while another noticed a more fruit forward and intense aroma.  A third noted earth and black cherry.

Taste of the Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon was noted as warm and compared to currants.  Cherry was also picked up on the palate and the tasters felt this was a dry wine.

Mouthfeel was noted as a bit coarse with the tannins being a little bitter.

The wine finished medium to long.  Overall, we thought this wine deserved a little more time in the cellar.  Two of the three tasters enjoyed it, though one admittedly prefers whites over reds.  It did have some complexity.  Give this wine a couple more years for the tannins to mature.  When you take it out, I bet it will pair nicely with a seared steak.

Price for Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon about $19.99.
